BGWS Project - Gurkha Hospital

Following the General Meeting of 12 February 2006, and the statement by the Chairman for the need by BGWS to establish a hospital in Nepal - a contribution from the Gurkhas as a whole. This will not only make each and every Gurkha proud but 'lahures' seen in a different light with the stigma we carry for ourselves totally removed. When we bought Gurkha Bhawan, you will recall it seemed a pipe dream but our success surprised everyone, while giving us the confidence that with unity anything can be achieved - where there is a will, there certainly is way.

We have a long way to go on the 'Gurkha Hospital' project but best we sow the seed now. We are positively and strongly moving forward, any donation received for BGWS will now go towards the project. Once we reach our initial goalĀ of £10,000 we will register this project as a separate Charity Fund, which will allow us to raise funds specifically for this purpose. I thank one and all for their support thus far.

DONATION

Donation for Gurkhas should be forwarded to the Gurkha Welfare Trust, a MOD sponsored Charity, specifically established for the welfare of retired Gurkhas and their dependants in Nepal. The British Gurkha Welfare Society is not a Charity organisation and relies on membership subscription to meet its financial requirements. We do, however, receive donations from our kind friends. Only on re-confirmation with our donors do we accept the donations.

We strongly believe the money should however be wisely used and as agreed by all members, place the amount on our Gurkha Hospital Project (please see Gurkha Hospital Project for full details). We then place the name of the donor in our list of donors for transparency and to acknowledge their kind deed.
